Philadelphia serves as a classroom and laboratory for Friends Select students of every age and in every area of study. They study archeological artifacts at the University of Pennsylvania Museum, architecture among the landmarks of Center City and Fairmount Park, and music in the piano labs at Temple Music Prep. They visit mosques as they explore religions, senior centers to develop intergenerational relationships with grandparent partners, bookstores and the Free Library to meet authors, and research centers to pursue internships. For Friends Select students, the attractions of the city are a daily reality, not a once-a-year, ride the bus all day special event.

"Being in the middle of the city gives the school access to people doing exciting things in exciting ways--we are part of it. We are IN it!"

John Colgan-Davis, Middle School English and Social Studies

"Imagine the city of Philadelphia is your sandbox and you begin to understand the lower school at Friends Select."

Michael Zimmerman, Director, Lower School
