Beyond the traditions that emerge from the academic program, the community enjoys many other school customs, including the lower school Halloween parade; lower school holiday lights ceremony; fifth grade moving up ceremony; eighth grade closing ceremony; Math Day, which includes a Pi competition to see who can recite the most digits; summer reading program; annual Mary Margaret Longacre '27 playwriting contest; the "Drop Everything" Days, where pairs of students across the divisions "drop" what they are doing to read, write, draw, or reflect; Brown and Gold Days; Baccalaureate: International Day; Yearbook Dedication; Academic Awards Ceremony; and Grandparents and Grand Friends Day.
Other anticipated events include the 9th grade rafting trip, annual upper school hall holiday decorating contest, Soph Hop and senior Prom. All these events contribute to the strong sense of community at the school.
