Profile
A college preparatory, coed, Quaker day school serving grades pre-kindergarten through 12th grade.

Location
17th St. & Benjamin Franklin Parkway, at the center of Philadelphia's culture, business, and government districts.

History
Traces its roots to the founding of the nation's first Friends school in 1689, and has existed in its current form since 1833 and at its present location since 1885.

Governance
Overseen by a board of 24 trustees appointed by Central Philadelphia Monthly Meeting (Race Street) and Monthly Meeting of Friends of Philadelphia (Arch Street).

Faculty
79 faculty members, 62% of whom hold advanced degrees. A student-faculty ratio of 10:1.

Students
540, drawn from close to 90 zip codes, approximately half from Center City Philadelphia and half from suburban Pennsylvania and New Jersey; 36% are students of color (African American, Asian, Latino and other); 5% are Quaker; 5% are international students.

College Preparation
Typically 100% of graduates enter four-year colleges and universities, including some of the nation's most prestigious institutions.

Facilities
Roof-top field that includes eight tennis courts and a field hockey playing field, 25-yard swimming pool, double gymnasium, weight room, wrestling room, playground exclusively for lower and after-school students, easy access to reserved fields in nearby Fairmount Park, three science labs, two libraries, two computer labs, computer laptop carts, dance studio, four art studios, two photo darkrooms, and a main stage theater.
