Admission> How to Apply>

We are accepting applications beginning August 1, 2011

For All Applicants

Families at all grade levels, pre-kindergarten through 12, should complete the following steps:

1.

Contact the Admission Office at 215-561-5900, x104, to schedule attendance at an Open House.

2.

Complete and submit the Admission Application (Word version; pdf version), with a $40 application fee. Pre-K through 4th grade applicants pay an additional $30 assessment fee.

3.

After application has been submitted schedule a parent interview.

4.

Request that a current (academic subject) teacher submit directly to the Admission Office a Teacher Recommendation Form (9-12th grades, two Teacher Recommendations are needed). Below are PDF files that can be downloaded.
Be sure to fill out and sign the top portion of this form before giving to the teacher to complete.
If your child has a psycho-educational evaluation report:  We welcome but do not require copies of the report as an added component of the application process. (If an applicant is accepted and if we have not already received a copy of the report, we require the report at that time and before enrolling in order to determine if the student is eligible for the kinds of accommodations our program is able to provide.  It also serves as a useful tool in assisting the student during his/her first year at Friends Select and beyond.)

Update for potential applicants to Kindergarten through Grade 12:  please note that it is now no longer possible to complete the application process in time to be considered in the first round (January) of admission decisions.  We continue, however, to welcome applications at all grade levels on a “rolling admission” basis.  This also means that in all likelihood financial aid will not be available to applications received at this time and completed in February or later.

Update for potential applicants to pre-Kindergarten:  applications completed by the February 3 Play Day will be considered late first round.  Note that there is the possibility that an acceptance will be for a space in the wait pool.  We encourage you to apply, however, as we have typically gone to our wait pool in the past.

Specific to Pre-Kindergarten and Kindergarten
Please note:
Applicants for pre-kindergarten must turn age four before September 1 of their pre-k school year; applicants for kindergarten must be age five before September 1.

After application has been submitted, schedule a time for the applicant to attend a pre-kindergarten or kindergarten Play Day. The parent interview must be held prior to the Play Day.

Please ask the current teacher (school year 2011-2012) to send us the Teacher Recommendation form one week to 10 days prior to the Play Day.  We want the most up-do-date perspective from the child’s current program.
