As you know, Friends Select School is under the care of two monthly meetings; Central (also called Race Street and is the one where we hold our weekly meetings for worship) and Philadelphia also known as Arch Street where we hold occasional gatherings.

Both meetings are holding reflective gatherings this Sunday, September 11th to consider a Friendly response to the events of 9/11, and the Friends Select Community is warmly invited to attend either.

Central Meeting: (15th and Cherry Streets) September 11, 12:30-2 PM.
The program will feature George Lakey sharing on “Nonviolent Responses to Terrorism," time for worship; activities for children; and child care for the smallest f/Friends.

Philadelphia Monthly Meeting: The Religious Leaders Council of Greater Philadelphia is sponsoring a "prayer gathering of memory and hope" on September 11, 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. at the Arch Street Meeting House. It will be a programmed meeting with some music, readings and opportunities for quiet reflection. The Arch Street Meeting has free, off-street parking by entering off 4th Street just below Arch Street.

It may only be July, but it’s time to start thinking ahead to the 2011-2012 school year as it will be here sooner than you think! Below is your guide to making the summer-to-fall transition smooth and simple.
