2008 Lower School Artist Study: Isaiah Zagar |
|
This year, our lower school student artists are learning about the life and art of Philadelphia mosaic artist Isaiah Zagar.
Isaiah Zagar received his bachelor of fine arts degree from Pratt Institute of Art in New York City in painting and graphics. He has been working on a city-wide mosaic environment for 35 years in Philadelphia, Pa. and is considered a visionary outside of the traditional art world. He has completed over 70 large scale installations and has exhibited his work internationally.*
Lower school students will be learning more about Isaiah Zagar and his art from the wonderful book Philadelphia’s Magic Gardens. We will also be working on mosaic inspired projects while learning about mosaic art from a variety of world cultures. Also planned are field trips to South Street to see Isaiah Zagar’s Magic Gardens in the spring.
