Parents> 2008-2009 Newsletters> February Newsletter> • Phantastic PA Auction >

The Hall of Fame Club at Citizens Bank Park will be the place to be on Saturday, March 7, for the Parent Association "Take Me Out to the Auction.".  (View auction items and bid on exclusive on-line items beginning February 12 at www.friendsselectauction.org.)

The cocktail party with live music starts at 6 p.m.  Proceeds benefit Friends Select School’s annual fund.

How did the PA land such a Philly-centric location during the year our hometown team won the World Series?  Dena Herrin, PA Auction Committee chair, claims the site selection was a matter of faith.  "We like to say that we knew that this would be THE YEAR.  Actually, when we decided on the venue last summer, we were still celebrating the Phillies clinching the National League East division title.”

Now, of course, Herrin and the rest of the committee members are delighted to keep Phillies fever alive just a little longer.

For a preview of the auction, here are three tantalizing items that will be available to the highest bidder:
  • A seven-night stay in a two-bedroom Ocean Breeze Apartment at Arenas Del Mar Beach and Nature Resort, Manuel Antonio, Costa Rica, available May 1 through October 31, 2009.
  • A power breakfast for four with Mayor Michael Nutter at 10 Arts at the Ritz Carlton.
  • A two-day tour of Washington, D.C., for four from Senator Arlen Specter.  The package includes a VIP tour of the Capitol Building, VIP tour of the Kennedy Center, Senate Gallery passes, Congressional tour of the U.S. Supreme Court, a tour of the Library of Congress, reservations to the Bureau of Engraving and Printing and reservations to the senators-only dining room.
