Financial Aid
Thirty-eight percent of families at Friends Select School receive some form of financial aid. Financial aid grants are awarded on the basis of a family's demonstrated need and are employed using objective standards established by the School and Student Service for Financial Aid (SSSFA). The Friends Select School Financial Aid Committee uses this information to determine grants based on the committee's own guidelines and priorities.

Priorities for Aid:
1. Families who are members of the Religious Society of Friends.
2. Friends Select School families applying ofr renewed financial aid.
3. Friends Select School families who are first-time applicants for aid.
4. Families who are new to Friends Select School.

Note: as a matter of policy, the school's Financial Aid Committee does not provide grants for children entering pre-kindergarten.

Financial Aid Application Process
Families applying for aid must complete the Parents' Financial Statement (PFS), available from the Admission Office in mid-November 2008, and mail it to ETS PFS, School and Student Service for Financial Aid, P.O. Box 371478, Pittsburgh, PA 15250-7478. Beginning in November 2008 you can also submit the PFS online to the School and Student Service for Financial Aid by visiting their Web site at www.nais.org/financialaid/sss.

In addition, families must send a copy of the 2008 Federal Income Tax Form 1040, including all schedules, to the Business Office by March 13, 2009.

Financial Aid Application Dates 2008-2009 (for school year 2009-2010)
New Students: Financial aid applications for new students must be completed and sent to the School and Student Service for Financial Aid (SSSFA) by January 2, 2009.  Applicants meeting this deadline and who were accepted by the admission committee in late January will be considered in February with financial aid decisions announced by February 7, 2009.

Current Students: Financial aid applications for current students must be completed and mailed to the School and Student Service for Financial Aid (SSSFA) by January 16, 2009.  Applications in this group will be considered in April with decisions announced shortly afterwards.
