After School Program
The Friends Select After-School Program offers a fun-filled and engaging environment for students, while providing ease and convenience for busy families. This year the After-School Program will offer favorite activities from years past and new and exciting specials as well. Students and parents can look forward to swimming, theater, dance, painting, multi-media art, outdoor sports, and much more.
The After School Program will continue to use security passes as part of safety measures to ensure that students only leave with the individuals approved by the student’s parent(s) or guardian(s). Each day a different color is assigned to these passes, which are given to the “pick up person” by a back desk personnel. The security passes are just one of the After School Programs policies that help to keep parents and students happy and safe.
The After School Program will continue to provide a full day of enriching Vacation Care activities on most weekdays when Friends Select School is closed, with the exception of national holidays. During these days students go on trips around the city to roller skating rinks, bowling alleys, playgrounds, and museums. Days on which trips are not provided are filled at school with special activities such as tie-dye tee-shirt workshops, scavenger hunts and relay races.
Throughout the year any changes or updates in the After School Program will be sent home in students backpacks. Sign-up forms for vacation care and special will also be sent home and can always be found at the back desk or linked to this page.

After School Music Lesson Program Information
The Friends Select After School Music Lesson Program aims to teach musicianship skills on a chosen instrument in a student-centered manner based on the Quaker Values of the school. Students gain literacy, proficiency, critical thinking skills, confidence, as well as grit and persistence. Teachers draw from multiple methods to craft instruction appropriate for each student. Students are supported in their learning and challenged to move beyond easy accomplishment.
Lessons are offered for most instruments, including piano, strings, guitar, bass, percussion, woodwinds and brass. Please contact Heather Fortune, firstname.lastname@example.org, for more information about private music lessons after school.
