Capital Campaign Exceeds Expectations

When the school launched the Campaign for Friends Select just two years ago, it was the first major capital campaign in decades. The goal was to raise $4.5 million to build a firm financial foundation that would ensure a more secure future for the school.

The campaign started with a generous contribution from Frank ’41 and Janet Mustin, a leadership gift that inspired many others to follow suit. The campaign officially concluded at the end of December, with a stunning total of $5.3 million.

What is the impact of having so significantly exceeded the campaign’s goal?

The answer is apparent in the capital improvements pictured on this page, all of which enrich the environment of research and discovery at the school.

The positive impact of the successful campaign reaches beyond these spaces, however. The campaign:

• Funded faculty compensation and additional endowment for financial aid
• Launched the annual senior class gift
• Created the Bissinger Annex encompassing several classrooms on the first floor
• Added starting blocks for the swimming pool
• Endowed The Cauldron literary and arts journal and many drama programs
• Revitalized the Annual Fund

Every single donation, from the modest to the distinctly philanthropic, conveyed deep commitment to Friends Select and its future. Friends Select’s students, faculty, administrators and staff wish to extend a very simple message to everyone whose generosity contributed to the success of the campaign:

Thank you for your support and confidence.
