College Essay/Personal Statement Workshop

Dates: August 17 to August 18, 9:30 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. in person; additional time via zoom
Prerequisite: For students in 11th grade

No matter where you are in the process--just gathering some ideas or actually beginning a draft--this 2-day course will give you skills that can enhance all of your writing for the college process. Through a combination of mini-lessons and one-on-one conferencing, this course will help you cultivate an authentic voice, write specifically for the college admissions audience, and learn how to make your writing come alive with more showing detail and less telling.

Gathering of Young English Language Learners

Prerequisite: For students in Pre-K to 7th grade

All are invited! This course will work with speaking, listening, reading, and writing in English. It is designed for those just learning English, and those who just want to practice their English skills.

Intro to Algebra I in Spanish

Este curso será enseñado exclusivamente en español y fue diseñado para apoyar a los estudiantes y familias de habla hispana. Este curso repasará los temas que los estudiantes necesitan para tener éxito al ingresar a su curso de Álgebra. Además de repasar temas esenciales de pre álgebra como porcentajes, expresiones, ecuaciones de varios pasos y desigualdades, los estudiantes también estudiarán múltiples representaciones de funciones lineales y no lineales. Los estudiantes analizarán y aplicarán datos del mundo, usarán materiales prácticos y calculadoras cuando sea necesario.

Poetry in the City: Middle School

Teacher: Bryan Skelly and Amanda Cartier-Brandon
Dates: June 27 - July 1; 9:00 a.m. -  1:00 p.m.
Prerequisite: For middle school students

Throughout the course, students will be given the space and time to create original works of poetry. By using collaboration, the world around us, and model poems, students will get to enjoy the art of poetry. Students should pack a lunch for this course.
