Fifth Grade
In addition to components of health-related fitness and sport-specific skills, students will learn to identify relationships between positions in a variety of sports. They will work to display responsible personal and social behavior that respects self and other in physical activity settings. Units of instruction include field hockey, flag football, dance, net games, fitness and fitness games, health, cooperative games, and swimming.
Sixth Grade
In addition to components of health-related fitness and sport-specific skills, students will learn to use offensive and defensive strategies to have successful performance in a variety of team sports. Students will focus on the proper shooting, passing, and receiving techniques for multiple games. Units of instruction include soccer, volleyball, floor hockey, badminton, health, swimming, team handball and other large group games.
Seventh Grade
Units of instruction include field hockey, flag football, rugby, volleyball, fitness and fitness games, health, Pilates, cooperative games, and swimming. Health topics include values, fitness prescription, body image, stress management, and nutrition.
Eighth Grade
Units of instruction include soccer, badminton, team handball, rugby, fitness and fitness games, health, and swimming. Health topics include relationships, birth control methods, sexually transmitted infections, and drugs and alcohol use/abuse.
