Friends Select School Hires New Director of Equity and Inclusion

Friends Select School has appointed Toni Williamson as the school’s first full time Director of Equity and Inclusion effective August 1, 2018. “As a school, we want to deepen programming focused on equity and inclusion and catapult Friends Select into the national conversation about candor and justice in our country,” said Michael Gary, Head of School.

Williamson comes from Abington Friends School, where she served as assistant head of school and director of equity and inclusion. During her tenure, she helped the institution clarify and strengthen connections between diversity and Quakerism, and established the school as a leader in diversity work. “Toni brings a tremendous amount of experience to this position and has a proven track record of teaching cross cultural competency and developing student leaders in the area of diversity,” said Gary.

Williamson has served as a facilitator at The Race Institute and Educators New to Quakerism. “My experience working at a Friends school and my appreciation and love for the city is what attracted me to Friends Select. I look forward to continuing the work of building passion and leadership in the areas of diversity and equity throughout the community,” said Williamson.
