Friends Select Welcomes Heidi Hutchison as Director of City Curriculum

Friends Select School has appointed Heidi Hutchison as the full-time Director of City Curriculum.

Hutchison is a long-time educator and comes to Friends Select from Friends School of Baltimore, where she served as their Director of Community Partnerships and Lower School Assistant Principal, Pre-K through Pre-1st. In her role, she was responsible for initiating and managing community partnerships. Heidi also designed and created a social entrepreneurship course for juniors and seniors that included partnerships with the Social Innovations Lab and Impact Hub at Johns Hopkins University and other socially-minded businesses. Additionally, Heidi has years of experience facilitating professional development integrating service learning into curriculum utilizing a project-based approach.

Hutchison received her master’s degree in school leadership from the Graduate School of Education at the University of Pennsylvania in 2015. As Director of City Curriculum, Hutchison returns to Philadelphia to lead Friends Select’s efforts to connect with the city through excellent teaching, meaningful service, innovative curriculum, transformative internships, and creative partnerships. Of her new position, she shares, “I most look forward to connecting with and learning about the people at Friends Select, and of course, the beautiful city of Philadelphia. I believe people are really at the heart of every city and I am so excited to serve the students, teachers, and families at Friends Select.
