New Director of Financial Operations Joins Friends Select

Friends Select School has hired Matt Rosen as the director of financial operations. Matt joined Friends Select after Mike Noonan, the school’s longtime director of finance, retired earlier this year.

“I am so excited to be joining Friends Select,” Matt said. “I was really drawn to this opportunity by the school's commitment to using the city as a teaching tool, as well as its emphasis on diversity and inclusion. Both of those themes resonated with me, and I couldn't be happier to join such a wonderful community.”

Matt comes to Friends Select from Springside Chestnut Hill Academy, where he most recently served as the school's controller. During his tenure, Matt was responsible for all accounting and auditing aspects of the school's budget, endowment, and 403b plan. Previously, he worked as the school's business manager, ensuring that all school operations, programs, and events ran smoothly. He has also worked for the School District of Philadelphia in their Charter School Office, overseeing the financial health and sustainability of over 80 charter schools in the city.

In addition to his experience in school operations and finance, Matt has been a teacher in various capacities for many years. He taught AP Statistics for four years and has served as an adjunct instructor in Temple University's Department of Economics for many years. He also was the inaugural recipient of the National Business Officer Association's Annual Meeting Scholarship for Aspiring Business Managers of Independent Schools.
